HTC unveils first quad-core smartphone on February 26
HTC has already started a tradition of presenting the latest smartphone models even before the start of the Mobile World Congress.
And this year, the company began to divide members of the media invitations to an event that will take place just before MWC, on 26 February. Although there is still no clear information about this, the star of this event is expected to be HTC Edge, the first smartphone with quad-core processor from the company’s offer.
Equipped with a Tegra 3 chipset and a 720p HD screen, HTC Edge may be the new high end smartphone. From the information available so far, we find that the four cores running at no less than 1.5 GHz, and for efficient use Li-Ion battery is included and auxiliary energy efficient processor, used for less demanding tasks such as navigating the menu system or browse the collection of text messages. Android OS 4.0 is shipped Ice Cream Sandwich, aided by 1GB of RAM, while totaling 32 GB internal memory.
HD screen is measuring 4.7 inch. On the back is an 8 MP camera with F2.2 aperture, capable of shooting at 1080p resolution.
Of course, until the official presentation of all the above specifications must be treated with some skepticism. The fact is that HTC Edge presents as a multimedia smartphone worthy of attention, targeted to the most demanding users.
It remains to be seen if HTC Edge will manage to solve the problem with battery autonomy, this being most neglected aspect of smart phone manufacturers.
